Doreen Kossove MD November 16, 1943 - February 6, 2009 Doreen (Dee) Kossove died after a lengthy and tremendous battle with leiomyosarcoma (LMS), a rare cancer. Dee is survived by her daughter Natasha de Lange of Berkeley, CA; husband Owen; brother Alan Kossove; adopted sister Rosalie Travers, many cousins and scores of friends on several continents. Dee was the daughter of the late Muriel (Mimzie) and Max Kossove, Jr. Dee claimed her beloved daughter Natasha as her greatest accomplishment. Dee was a graduate of Vassar College, attended medical school at UCSD and completed residencies in pediatrics at UCSF and Case Western. She practiced in the U.S. and South Africa for more than 20 years until returning to the Bay Area for medical treatment. Dee was often described as 'larger than life'. An energetic and astute researcher of LMS; Dee played a major role in creating the leiomyosarcoma.info website, and spent countless hours educating and assisting others with LMS and related cancers through the ACOR ListServ. The family would like to thank cousins Barrie Zultowsky, Robert Baraf and Nathan Kase, MD, and friends J. Amelia Ellis and Alison Woodman for their special help during this terrible illness. We'd also like to thank her caring and generous aides including Rosalina Chavez, Wendy Favila-Penney, and La Shea Macon. A memorial is planned for March 7 at Harriet Tubman Terrace, Berkeley, CA. THIS HURT ME SO MUCH. I AM THE FORGOTTEN FRIEND SO DOES THAT MEAN MY FRIENDSHIP MEANT NOTHING CAUSE I AM HERE AND THEY ARE THERE? DESPERATELY SAD ANN.
